This book is an excellent reference for the surname Hay, those associated with the Hays, particularly in America; and is of profound importance to those descendants of Col. Ann Hawkes Hay. It is written in two books; Book One; covers the early history of Scotland, and then outlines 25 generations of Hays from the year 1046 and William de la Hay to 1745. Book Two; covers the history of the Hay family to 1745; the story of Col. Ann Hawkes Hay, the first of his line to arrive in America, and a history of his descendents to 1986; the Hay Family Worldwide; Heraldry & Tartans; Lands and Castles of the Hays; and contains 32 pages of photographs and multiple illustrations. The index for Book 1 & 2 indexes over 3,500 Hays; 700 in early Scotland and over 2,800 in America. This book has been out of print for 37 years, however several boxes of sealed hardbound editions were recently discovered and we are making them available here.
