Victoria sold the Pavilion in order to pay for work needed on Buckingham Palace.Brighton's Royal Pavilion is a former royal residence, beginning building in 1787 for George, who was then the Prince of Wales. It is noted for its Indo-Saracenic style.A Georgian edition of the Common Prayer, here together with the Psalms of David.Bookplate of the Bishop of Norwich to the front paste down, a pencil dated of 1837. This Bishop is either Henry Bathurst, who died in the position in 1837, or Edward Stanley, who subsequently took over. CONDITION In a full straight grain morocco binding, with gilt embossed monogram and crown to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing and marks to the boards and spines. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Small cracks to the joints. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean, with a few odd spots. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.
