Keeper of the Stream; The Life of a River and Its Trout Fishery. By Frank Sawyer and published in London by Adam and Charles Black. 1952, 214 pp, 6x9’’, hardcover binding. In good condition. Covers and spine have age-related wear and toning, with some slight tears and bending at the corners. Pages have age-related toning and foxing. Some pen and pencil inscriptions from a previous owner, including the owner’s name, David W. P. Jewitt, on the first page. Hinges are in good condition and pages have good support throughout. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. Frank Sawyer was a river keeper and writer. Sawyer invented various fishing tramps, with the most popular being the Imbra. He began working as a river keeper in 1925, inspiring him to write various volumes on his experiences and what he had learned while working about fish and their ecosystems.
